Description

Earl Grey Blue – a classic in a new version

The history of Earl Grey, one of the world's most recognizable teas, dates back to the 19th century. It is connected to the legend of British Prime Minister, Earl Grey, who was supposedly given a gift of black tea with bergamot from a Chinese diplomat. According to another story, bergamot oil was added to the tea to neutralize the unpleasant taste of the water at Earl Grey's estate. Although it is difficult to determine which story is closer to the truth, both emphasize the profound impact Earl Grey has had on tea culture and tradition – it is still considered a symbol of elegance and English style.

It owes its uniqueness to the aroma of bergamot, or bergamot orange oil. It gives black tea its fresh, citrusy character and unique scent, which over the years has gained loyal fans around the world. The name "bergamot" itself comes from the Turkish language and originally referred to the so-called Prince's Pear – a fruit grown in the Mediterranean region, with a thick, fleshy peel. It is from this peel that the oil is pressed, giving the tea its distinctive aroma.

The Earl Grey Blue version stands out for more than just its aroma. Cornflower petals have been added to the classic base of black tea and bergamot, which don't affect the flavor but give the tea a uniquely attractive appearance. The intense blackness of the leaves, offset by blue accents, makes it clear from the very beginning that this is a tea unlike any other. This subtle detail adds elegance to the blend and draws attention with its appearance. The tea pairs beautifully with milk and a touch of cane sugar, making it a perfect addition to everyday meals or dessert gatherings.

Taste and aroma

Classic black tea is combined with the natural aroma of bergamot and cornflower petals, which give the blend an elegant, decorative character. The flavor remains true to the classic: intensely black, strong, with the citrus freshness of bergamot. The addition of cornflower doesn't change the flavor profile, but introduces a subtle tone that softens the bitterness. The infusion is clear, dark, and has the citrus scent characteristic of true Earl Grey.

For whom?

Earl Grey Blue will appeal to those who appreciate classics in a modernized form. The distinctive flavor of black tea combines with the fresh aroma of bergamot, while blue cornflower petals add elegance and a unique appearance to the blend. This tea is perfect for both everyday and more formal occasions – it tastes delicious and looks impressive in the cup. It is also a favorite among those who enjoy traditional blends but seek even a subtle touch that distinguishes them from ordinary blends.

How to brew Earl Grey Blue tea?

Pour 200 ml of water at 100°C over one teaspoon of dried herb (approx. 2–3 g) and steep for 3–5 minutes. A shorter steeping time will produce a milder and more refreshing infusion, while a longer steeping time will emphasize the strength of the black tea and the citrus intensity of the bergamot.

Why is it worth having in your offer?

Every serious tea offering should include Earl Grey tea – a classic chosen by both connoisseurs and occasional tea drinkers. Earl Grey Blue stands out thanks to the addition of cornflower blossoms, which give the tea a striking and elegant appearance. The tea is versatile: it tastes great both hot and cold, and the natural aroma of bergamot adds elegance and freshness.
